Assault complaint filed against Quepem councillor’s husband

QUEPEM: Following the arrest of an opposition councillor of Quepem municipal council (QMC) in a cheque bouncing case, a complaint has been filed at Quepem police station against Ganpat Modak, husband of ruling councillor Reshmi Modak in an alleged assault case.Complainant Rajesh Naik, a resident of Devmoll Sirvoi, complained to Quepem police on May 25, alleging that Modak slapped and pushed him on the ground without any valid reason. Both are residents of the same Sirvoi ward under the municipal jurisdiction.Even though Quepem police registered a non-cognisable complaint under section 323, PI Brutano Peixoto called the accused at the police station on Tuesday morning along with the complainant.“I have warned the accused not to repeat such incidents, as there is another complaint registered against him by another complainant,” Peixoto said.
