Appeals panel to hear Namdhari on Friday
Panaji: The appeals committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) will meet on Friday to hear Namdhari FC and then decide on their pending appeal against Inter Kashi FC.
The appeals committee has stayed the disciplinary committee order that adjudged Namdhari to have fielded an ineligible player in their 2-0 win against Kashi at home. An ineligible player resulted in match forfeiture for the hosts and three points to Kashi.
These three points are now crucial for Kashi. Should the decision go their way, they will finish with 42 points, two more than provisional leaders Churchill Brothers.
Last week, Kashi made their submissions before the appeals committee, but an order could not be passed since the lawyer representing Namdhari informed the panel that he is “currently unwell and therefore unable to attend the physical hearing.”
The appeals panel has now provided another opportunity for Namdhari with a hearing fixed for April 18.
The appeals committee is headed by Retd. Justice (High Court) Rajesh Tandon and has Retd. Justice (Session Court) Ashok Tripathi as its new member. The committee also comprises two lawyers, Anil Kshatriya and Diwaker Thite.
The I-League concluded on Sunday without an official champion for the first time.
