Apaar ID is safe and beneficial for students: Edu director
Panaji: The Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (Apaar) ID is not currently mandatory for students, however, he said that recognising the benefits of the card, more than 7,800 students have already registered for it, said education director Shailesh Zingade on Tuesday.
Apaar was conceptualised under the National Education Policy. The Apaar ID is a unique 12-digit ID, which will be allotted to students in the state in private, aided, and govt schools. This will be a step in the creation of an academic bank of credits for school students, which will store their academic progress.
“The Apaar card is designed to streamline the process of storing and accessing student data. By linking complete student information to a digital locker, the card will enable students to easily obtain admission to educational institutions throughout the country and even abroad,” Zingade said.
To issue the Apaar ID, an Aadhar card and the consent from parents are required. However, many worry about fraud as the Aadhar card is being asked for. “There is no possibility of any fraud in this process. Fraud can be committed if you share your fingerprints, etc., but we are only asking for the Aadhar card, using which we will generate the Apaar ID,” the education director said.
He added, “When a student misplaces their marksheet, he/she is required to obtain a duplicate copy for admission purposes. This situation poses challenges for the verification process. However, if the marksheets are available on the DigiLocker platform, this issue will not arise.”
Zingade appealed to parents not to oppose the Apaar ID as it is going to benefit the students. “Apaar, although not compulsory at present, is a process that I believe every student should undertake. It is going to benefit them. The entire procedure will be closely monitored, and we guarantee that students’ personal data will remain safe,” he said.

After Aadhaar its APAAR. We have witnessed numerous cases of fraud with aadhaar and data leaks. Aadhaar was also not mandatory at first but now its a mandatory document. APAAR will be a greater threat to a person as whole details along with academic records will be available at a place and any leak will prove disastrous. With a govt so divisive, dishonest and who never accepts its failure how can one trust that the data will not be used for suppressing its opponent when so much data is available to it on its fingertips. APAAR is a device for Fraud and Dictator.Read allPost comment
