MARGAO: Reacting to the state government rejecting permission for an Indo-Russian music festival, Fatorda independent MLA Vijay Sardesai called it yet another U-turn by the government.
"The U-turn by the government on the Indo-Russian music festival on one hand whilst the tourism minister goes on jaunts for roads shows to invite Russian tourists on the other hand has been called 'cheap governance' by TOI on Sunday," said Sardesai, while addressing mediapersons on Monday.
Sardesai further recalled the activity of the forum Friends of Good Governance (FOGG). He questioned them now that they are under the 'parivartan', will they work, not for Narendra Modi, but for Goa and good governance. "But will FOGG do so, especially when FOGG's convenor during the elections, Giriraj Pai Vernekar, is now special assistant to the chief minister," said Sardesai.
Sardesai further pointed out that electronic dance music (EDM) festivals are given permissions but Goan weddings are now being stopped by 10pm.
"Will the BJP government move a legislation to prove that it is working for the Goans and not outsiders?" added Sardesai, while trying to give an example of how contradictory and selective the stand of the government was for different type of events.
