Anjuna man held with drugs worth nearly Rs 9L
Panaji: Karan Govekar, 33, an Anjuna resident, was arrested by the anti-narcotic cell (ANC) of Goa police on Sunday for allegedly possessing synthetic drugs worth around Rs 9 lakh.
“The accused was on the ANC radar for the past few weeks. Suspecting this, he shifted his operations to daytime to avoid further suspicion. However, after continuous surveillance through technical means and informants, the ANC received a tip-off that the accused would be coming to Vagator to deliver narcotics to his prospective customer,” Pillai said.
In total, 37g of cocaine, 37g of methamphetamine, and 15 high-quality ecstasy tablets were seized from the accused, said Pillai. They also attached a car which Govekar used to deliver narcotics to his customers.
