MANDREM: Arambol villagers have complained that despite repeated pleas to initiate action against migrant vendors at Arambol beach, the authorities concerned have failed to take action against them so far.
“It is often seen that the migrant vendors disturb foreign tourists,” Vishwanth Naik from Arambol said.
Arambol panchayat headed by Suchana Gadekar had recently submitted a memorandum to the Pernem police station asking immediate action against the migrant vendors on the beach.

“No specific measures have been taken by the police so far,” Gadekar told TOI.
“Arambol panchayat has already resolved to undertake periodical checking to crack a whip against the migrant vendors loitering on the beach,” Gadekar added.
Sources at Pernem Police station confirmed that the police out post functioning at Arambol has been closed while the few police personnel from Pernem police station are manning Arambol and Morjim beaches.
‘’We are facing a great inconvenience in patrolling these beaches due to shortage of sufficient police staff as only 50 policemen are attached to Pernem police station out of which only 14 are patrolling these beaches,’’ a police source said.
Sources from Pernem police station confirmed that so far 19 migrants have been detained for loitering on the beach.
