‘Akshaya Patra’s kitchen opening commemorates Parrikar’s legacy’

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday that it was very heartening for him to carry out the inauguration of Akshaya Patra’s first kitchen for supply of midday meals in Goa on the day of the death anniversary of former Goa CM and ex-defence minister Manohar Parrikar.
“It is Manohar Bhaie’s punyatithi, he was eager that children should get good and quality meals. He had invited Akshaya Patra back then in Goa. It took them over a decade to come to Goa. They were first invited in 2013-14,” said Sawant.
Akshaya Patra co-founder Chanchalapathi Dasa also paid tributes to Parrikar on the occasion.
“Today is a very heartening day for us to have the inauguration of Akshaya Patra by the CM Pramod Sawant. Madhu Pandit Dasa, chairman of Akshaya Patra, was a close hostel mate of Parrikarji in Mumbai. Parrikar invited us almost 14 years back. We had visited then and met him. Today is his punyatithi, we are able to fulfill his aspiration to bring the Akshaya Patra services to the children of Goa.”
The mission of Akshay Patra is simple — that the children should not be deprived of education due to hunger, he said.
