Canacona: After much delay, renovation of the Palolem service road from the Agonda-Palolem junction to Palolem beach point began on Thursday.
“It is expected to be completed by the end of this week,” said public works department (PWD) assistant engineer Swapnil Desai.
He said this stretch which is estimated to cost Rs 82.2 lakh will include repairs of potholes, rectification of the edges and a 30mm hot-mix.
Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) chairperson, Mario Simon Rebello said that the tourism business in Palolem has been adversely affected as visitors would turn back seeing the state of the road.
“Tourists would prefer other beaches because of the condition of the road,” Rebello added.
