After Canacona success, Mhaji Buses across Goa

Panaji: Following a successful pilot phase in Canacona, the Mhaji Bus scheme is expected to be replicated across the state. Designed to enhance public transport accessibility and support private bus owners, the scheme has shown promising results, said KTC MD Derek Pereira Neto.

“We have submitted a positive feasibility report to govt, emphasising the scheme’s benefits for commuters and private bus operators,” he said.

Initially introduced as a pilot project in Aug 2023, the Mhaji Bus scheme was intended to operate for six months but was extended due to administrative constraints during the election code of conduct.

The scheme drew 53 buses, which operated on the revenue-sharing model.
