37% PDS beneficiaries yet to complete e-KYC
Panaji: Around 37% of the 10.9 lakh PDS (public distribution system) beneficiaries in the state failed to complete the e-KYC process for their ration cards.
If the beneficiaries fail to complete e-KYC in the next 15 days, their entries from the ration card data will be suspended, said the department of civil supplies and consumer affairs.
The department gave time until the end of Oct to complete the e-KYC process. Despite reaching out to PDS beneficiaries, the department observed that many of the beneficiaries did not turn up to the fair price shop to complete their e-KYC.
A senior official of the department appealed to the beneficiaries to comply with the instructions at the earliest. He said that every member of the family whose name figures in the ration card ought to complete the e-KYC process to avoid suspension of their entries from the ration card data.
