35-year-old man drowns in Khandepar

PONDA: Ambresh Anant Solyekar, a 35-year-old youth, from Soliye-Honda in Sattari taluka drowned in the Khandepar River at Codar-Dharbandora.
Solyekar had come on a picnic with two other friends. He went for a swim along with one of his friends in a bandhara over the river at Codar. Solyekar began to struggle to stay afloat after he swum out a little further into the bandhara.
His friend raised an alarm and along with some other picnicers launched a search operation. Finally, they called the police and fire and emergency services, who recovered Solyekar’s body by late afternoon. A case of an unnatural death has been registered at the Ponda police station.
