22 illegal huts on private property at Ponda razed

Ponda: A total of 22 huts behind Safa Masjid at Shapur, Ponda, were demolished on Thursday in the presence of police. Zahiruddin Mulla, the landowner had come to demolish the encroachments on March 4. However, after the Bandora sarpanch intervened, the landowner had given the occupants 15 days to shift their belongings elsewhere.
On Thursday, a court bailiff, under police protection, had the huts demolished, sources said.
The land is private property and the owner had received court orders to evacuate the hut occupants from the area.
