21-yr-old tourist dies after visiting club in Vagator
Panaji: A 21-year-old tourist from Indore, Ishan Singh Badgujar, died in Goa on Saturday after he and his friends visited a club at Vagator. Nine friends arrived in Goa on Thursday.
Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas said that on Friday evening they visited a club and at midnight, Badgujar started feeling uneasy and he was shifted to a private hospital at Anjuna.
Gawas said that the doctors conducted a postmortem on the body of the deceased at GMC and verbally informed the police and family that the death was due to a heart attack, but they have not given the cause of death in writing.
As his health started deteriorating, doctors at the private hospital advised his friends to shift him to North Goa District Hospital at Mapusa.
The Anjuna PI said that by the time they reached the district hospital, Badgujar lost his life. Doctors at the district hospital declared him brought dead to hospital. Anjuna police have registered the case of unnatural death.
Earlier in the day, reacting to the incident, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo said that she told the Anjuna PI to investigate the cause of death.
“If the death is due to drug overdose, then police should find out the source. Police should find out from where they purchased the drugs. Somebody coming to Goa and dying due to drug overdose brings a bad name to Goa,” she said.
Lobo said that Goa does not have any club policy and people take permission to run restaurants and turn them into a club, and govt should bring club policy.
