2 youth arrested for thefts in Verna

VASCO: The Vasco police on Tuesday evening, detained two youngsters—Shrikant Rathod, 18, from Shantinagar and Koran Swami, 21, from Newvaddem on “suspicion”. The two were later arrested after they confessed to having committing thefts in Verna area.
A case under Section 41 was registered and the accused were transferred to the Verna police station.
Police also recovered home theatres and other electronic items— all worth about 1 lakh— from the accuseds’ homes.
During interrogation, the accused revealed the name of Pramod Madgi, 24, from Newvaddem who is already in judicial custody for another other case. The Vasco police are now on the lookout for three other persons whose names also came up.
In another incident, Carmeline Homes Pereira of Velsao registered a complaint with the Verna police on Wednesday that when she left for Kuwait with her son in July, an unknown person effected entry into her house and made off with a home theatre worth 16,000.
