Mapusa: The Mapusa sessions court sentenced Umesh Lamani and Daya Shankar Sahu to life imprisonment in a 2018 case involving the murder of a restaurant owner at Candolim.
The restaurant owner,
Vishwajeet Singh, was killed after he complained that his employee, Lamani, had stolen his motorcycle.
The case was investigated by the then inspector of the Calangute police station, Jivba Dalvi. Upset that Singh complained against him, Lamani, along with Sahu, a native of Madhya Pradesh, stabbed Singh to death in the parking area of Singh’s apartment complex at Candolim.
The accused were identified by scouring CCTV footage and traced to Gadag in Karnataka. They were arrested and brought to Goa by Dalvi.
