2 cash-for-job cases: Mardol police recording statements
Ponda/Canacona: Mardol police have started recording statements of alleged victims in two different cases of cash-for-job scam which are under investigation.
Police began taking statements of the alleged victims on the basis of a list they recovered from Ajit Satarkar, who was arrested last week in connection with Pooja Naik’s case. The list taken from Satarkar’s house, police said, also mentions the amount he received from various people for securing govt jobs. The investigation kicked off on the basis of a complaint last month by Gurudas Gaude who claimed he paid Rs 14 lakh to Naik to secure a govt job for his son.
Police are yet to register an FIR on the complaint made by Sandeep Parab against Deepashree Sawant who was arrested for allegedly cheating people by promising govt jobs.
But statements are now being recorded in this case too of people who have paid money to get jobs. Parab, in his complaint, said he paid Rs 3.9 crore to Sawant which he collected from job aspirants on her behalf. He has not given any proof to support his claim.
In a separate case, a Canacona court has remanded Rameshwar Mandrekar from Sanquelim, who was arrested in the cash-for-jobs scam earlier this week, in 14 days police custody. Mandrekar and another man are accused of duping Krishna Naik of Rs 5 lakh in 2021, promising to secure a govt job for him. When he failed to deliver, Naik filed a police complaint.
