1 dies as mango tree collapses at Mandrem
Panaji: One person lost his life after a mango tree collapsed on his two-wheeler at Mandrem as he was proceeding towards Mapusa from Arambol. The incident took place on May 12. Mandrem police registered an FIR in the matter.
Police said that the tree was hanging over the road, thereby endangering human life. The owners, knowing that the tree was weak, old and likely to collapse, took no action. As a result of negligence, the tree collapsed on Vishal’s scooter.
Police said that he sustained fatal injuries, and he was declared dead on arrival at the community health centre (CHC) in Pernem. Further investigation is in progress.
