Woman stages her son’s abduction to frame neighbour, nabbed with friend

Ghaziabad: A woman and her friend were arrested on Sunday for allegedly plotting to file a fake case by accusing her neighbour, with whom she had a longstanding dispute, of abducting her 7-year-old son.
Police said the woman (35), a city resident, and Neeraj Singh of Bulandshahr were produced before a court and sent to custody.
DCP Kunwar Gyananjay Singh said the woman approached police on Friday, alleging that her neighbour Ashu and his advocate had abducted her son from his school in Vijay Nagar. Four teams were immediately formed to rescue the boy, the DCP said.
On investigating, cops found out that the woman had filed a rape complaint against Ashu in 2021, and the case was in trial. Earlier this year, she had accused him of beating her up in her house, said Brijesh Kumar Singh, SHO at Vijay Nagar police station.
“When Ashu wasn’t arrested, she plotted a fake case of kidnapping to frame him and his advocate. When a police team reached the boy’s school, the staff told them that the woman had called the boy’s class teacher and requested to give her son to her friend Sabbo. But the teacher didn't allow it and sent the child to his house with one of the teachers,” the SHO said.
The woman later went to Sabbo’s house with her son and told her that she had injured her hand while cooking, so she needed to go to a hospital for treatment. She said she will pick up her son in the evening.
“When she didn’t return, Sabbo called her and asked her to pick up her son. The woman then told Sabbo that a man named Neeraj will come. Neeraj took the boy around 8pm and went to Hapur to his sister’s house,” the SHO said.
Cops arrested the two suspects from Siddharth Vihar on Sunday, and on interrogation, found out that the child was in Hapur. The boy has been handed over to his grandparents.
An FIR was registered at the Vijay Nagar station against the woman and Neeraj under sections 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) and 137(2) (punishment for kidnapping) of BNS.
