Woman harassed by boyfriend dies by suicide, video gives him away

Ghaziabad: Four days after a 22-year-old woman died by suicide by hanging herself in her room, a 24-year-old man was arrested on charges of abetment on Tuesday. The accused, Nitesh Nishad, was allegedly in a relationship with the woman for nearly one year.
After going through the woman’s mobile phone on Aug 20, her family found out that she had spoken to Nishad on a video call right before she died.
They also found a 2-minute long video, in which she accused Nishad of harassing her. The woman claimed that Nishad had promised to marry her but backed out later.
The police have also recovered some audio recordings where the accused is purportedly heard using offensive language for the woman’s sister, Swatantra Singh, ACP of Indirapuram, told TOI. The ACP said that Nishad had also been talking to 6 to 7 other women on social media.
The woman’s father had filed a complaint against Nishad at Khoda police station, the ACP added.
Nishad is a resident of Deepak Vihar and works in a private company.
