GHAZIABAD: Two persons have been arrested with 104 kg of charas worth over Rs 4 crore. The accused used to smuggle the drug from Nepal to Ghaziabad from where it was distributed to other states.
The arrest was made after the
Delhi Police passed information that two people were coming in a Renault Duster car from Kathmandu and they would hide the drug in the car in boxes. The duo also used a fake number plate on the car.
According to police, the accused were identified as
Sanjeet Singh
(39) and
Ankur Verma (30), both are residents of South Delhi. While two other accused —
Sanjay and Bablu Pandit — are absconding. Sanjay is the key leader of the gang.

, SP (rural), told TOI that an information was passed by Delhi Police on Saturday evening that the car would be crossing Masuri and they will go to Saharanpur with the consignment.
“Immediately, we deployed our teams on the roads and during checking, we stopped the two suspects. When we checked the car, we found a a box with the drugs inside the seat,” Raja said.
The accused were arrested under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 482 (punishment for using a false property mark) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
