Roommate bludgeons youth to death with 5kg cylinder, on run

Ghaziabad: A 23-year-old man was allegedly bludgeoned to death with a 5kg LPG cylinder by his roommate at Ambedkar Nagar in Vijay Nagar on Tuesday night. The accused is currently on the run, said a police officer on Wednesday.
Shubham, who suffered multiple grievous injuries to his face and chest, was rushed to a Noida hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
According to the police, Shubham had been living in a rented apartment in Vijay Nagar for two years and worked as a labourer. The accused, Prem Kumar, moved in with Shubham two months ago after securing a job in a factory with Shubham’s assistance.
“The motive behind the killing remains unclear,” said the officer, adding that after allegedly committing the murder, Prem fled with Shubham's mobile phone.
Based on a complaint lodged by Saudan Singh, the apartment owner, an FIR under IPC Section 302 (punishment for murder) was registered at Vijay Nagar police station, said ACP Priyashri Pal.
"Around 9pm, my son had gone to the terrace for a walk when he saw Shubham lying in a pool of blood through his window," said Singh.
The investigation revealed that other tenants saw Prem leaving the building around 4pm with his luggage.
"Prem had borrowed Rs 5,000 on Tuesday afternoon, promising to repay upon receiving his salary," Singh added.
Cops have also found small quantity of marijuana in Shubham's room, which they are yet to investigate about, said the officer.
