GHAZIABAD: Residents of Raj Nagar Extension claimed a dozen trucks carrying garbage without covers have been passing the area for the past 3 months.
Some of the waste falls from the trucks on the road, causing a foul smell and raising health concerns.
"Daily, these trucks pass through the residential area. Garbage falls on the road and has heaped up. There are highrises on either side of the road.

People living in the flats there are left to deal with the stink and unhygienic conditions. The authorities should choose another route," said Anchal Maheshwari, a resident of SG Grand society.
In July, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) started dumping municipal waste on a 12-acre plot in Shahpur, nearly 2km from the residential area.
"The trucks should use the pipeline road to reach the dumpyard but have been using this road instead," said Rupesh Verma, another resident of Raj Nagar Extension.
A few days ago, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) asked the district magistrate, the UP State Pollution Control Board, and the GMC to respond within four weeks to a petition accusing the corporation of dumping waste on a plot along Shahpur Road in Morta, Raj Nagar Extension, in violation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. Environmentalist Dipesh Choudhary filed the petition on July 18, claiming the GMC had turned the area into a dumpyard. He questioned the move, saying 50 educational institutes, including Delhi Public School, operate in the area.

"Raj Nagar Extension has a population of more than one lakh residents. We have lodged complaints through every medium, but nothing has changed. The GMC trucks also do not follow any rules and carry the waste without coverings," said Deepanshu Mittal, another resident.
A senior official from GMC said that they would investigate the matter.
