The incident happened when Geeta and Vikas Vaishnav’s infant son had some health issues and they decided to take their baby for treatment to a private hospital in Delhi.

Vikas’s brother Vishal Vaishnav, who is the district vice-president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Krishak Shakti), booked an ambulance that was referred to him by an acquaintance on Friday evening.

Vishal filed the FIR at Vijay Nagar police station that mentions the licence plate number of the ambulance, which was said to be equipped with a ventilator, and the quoted price of the journey to the hospital in Delhi from a Ghaziabad facility.

The family took the baby to Delhi in the ambulance along with a doctor and a compounder sent by the vehicle owner.

“The ambulance was not equipped with the appropriate medical care while the doctor also did not know how to intubate him,” claimed Vishal.
