NEW DELHI: A fire broke out in an oil and chemical factory located near the Muradnagar Canal bridge on the Delhi-Meerut Road in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh at midnight on Monday.
The fire started in an industrial unit on the ground floor of a 2000-square-metre area in the Pawanpuri Industrial Area. Twelve fire tenders were deployed to the scene after the Modinagar Fire Station Control Room received the emergency call.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the blaze had caused drums of edible oil and chemicals to explode. As a result, tin shed roofs and boundary walls collapsed. The fire also spread to a nearby cardboard factory. Firefighters began operations by laying hose pipes from the main gate to control the flames.
Rahul Kumar, chief fire officer and police commissioner of Ghaziabad, dispatched additional fire tenders from Kotwali, Sahibabad, Vaishali, Loni, Partapur (Meerut), and Sector 58 (Gautam Buddha Nagar). He also visited the scene shortly after receiving the report.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and no injuries have been reported. Police officers, including the assistant commissioner of police, Modinagar, supported the firefighting efforts. Cooling operations are ongoing with the help of 12 firefighters.
