Divya Rana (33), a resident of

Yamuna Vihar

Colony, in Loni, was pursuing an LLB degree from an open University. She also worked as a property dealer, along with her husband

Saleem

. The couple worked in Ghaziabad as well as in Delhi.

Police said that Saleem hired two people for Rs 2 lakhs and asked them to kill Divya.

Bijendra Singh Bhadana, SHO, Loni police station, told TOI that a few days back, one of youths met Divya posing as a customer and showed interest in a property at Loni. “On Tuesday, Divya, Saleem and Sanjeev, one of the contract killers, were supposed to see the property in

Chirori

village. They were travelling in a car and Divya was driving,” he said.

“When the car reached Chirori, Sanjeev fired at Divya twice. Saleem, however, told the police that some people stopped their car and fired shots at them. Saleem and Sanjeev also took Divya to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead,” the SHO said.

Cops found irregularities in Saleem’s statement and later, he allegedly confessed to the crime.
