Ghaziabad: The man who attacked INDIA bloc candidate
Kanhaiya Kumar during a campaign rally in Delhi on Friday was booked by UP Police in
Ghaziabad earlier this year for trying to provoke communal unrest and is associated with an outfit that was involved in vandalism at AAP’s office in Kaushambi.
From Rohini in Delhi but now a resident of Shalimar Garden in Ghaziabad, Daksh Choudhary and an associate, Annu Choudhary, were booked after they entered a mosque in the Tila Mod area of the NCR city with their shoes on this Feb, leading to arguments with local residents.
The outfit’s head Bhupenda Tomar alias Pinky Choudhary, was arrested by Delhi Police in 2021 for raising inflammatory slogans at Jantar Mantar. Tomar, who is booked in more than a dozen cases, released a video on Saturday backing Daksh.
In the FIR filed on Feb 26 at Tila Mor police station, Daksh and Annu were booked under sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts to outrage religious feelings of any class), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony), and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC.
Shalimar Garden ACP Siddharth Gautam told TOI, “The accused had entered a religious place belonging to a minority community in the area with their footwear on and were involved in an altercation with the residents. They were arrested soon after the incident and we had secured their remand from court. They were sent to jail for three days, after which they had secured bail.”
Tomar claimed Daksh (24), a graduate, had joined his outfit a year ago, “inspired by our ideology”, and had moved to Shalimar Garden from Rohini. “We have trained him, and he carries out activities against anti-nationals at our behest. The attack on Kanhaiya Kumar, who is an anti-national, was on my instructions,” he claimed.
