GHAZIABAD: A 26-year-old man allegedly shot himself after shooting at his sister-in-law on Friday morning. While the accused, Ramesh, died on the spot, the woman, Savita Devi (36), is said to be critical. She was shot at thrice in her abdomen.


Police said Ramesh was a vegetable vendor in Sahibabad. On Thursday around 10pm, he went to his brother’s house in

village in Greater Noida’s Bisrakh and shot at Savita. He then returned to his house in Jhandapura in Ghaziabad’s Link road and killed himself.

The woman is survived by her husband and three minor children.

Laxmi Chauhan, the SHO of Link Road police station said, police received the information about the death from Ramesh’s neighbour. “Police have found an illegal pistol and some bullets near the body,” she said.

Jai Kumar, Ramesh’s elder brother and Savita’s husband said, “I never thought that Ramesh will try to kill my wife. He has defamed the image of the family by doing this.”

Ravi Kumar Mishra, the circle officer said, Ramesh’s body was sent for an autopsy after which the it will be handed over to his family.
