An FIR was filed after a social activist flagged her videos on X and sought police action against the owner of the YouTube channel — Kuwari Begam —for making such sexually explicit content.

The distribution, sale, or circulation of obscene materials and the selling of pornographic content to any person under age 20 years are illegal under IPC section 293 and IT Act-67B.

Additional CP Dinesh P Kumar said two police teams have been set up to arrest YouTuber Shikha Metray, a Ghaziabad resident, who has uploaded about 115 videos on her channel that has 2,050 subscribers. Police are in talks with Google to take down the videos, a few of which have nearly 800 views.

Kumar told TOI Metray is a graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi and works with an apparel company in the capital city.

The accused deleted or deactivated a few of her other social media accounts and changed the YouTube channel’s video privacy settings from public to personal after the case was filed against her, police said.

Deepika Narayan Bharadwaj, founder of Ekam Nyaay Foundation who first flagged the contents of the YouTube channel on X, said she came across the channel on Tuesday. Sharing videos on X, she sought police's intervention in pulling down the content and action against Metray.

After the video started doing rounds on social media, several other people tagged police in their comments on X and demanded Metray’s arrest. A few other YouTubers have also started a “jail bhejo” campaign against the accused.
