GHAZIABAD: A real estate developer allegedly shot himself dead shortly after midnight at his Shastri Nagar residence in
Ghaziabad. Sanjay Singhal (48) was the co-owner of real estate firm Charms India Pvt Ltd which has various projects in Rajnagar extension, Ghaziabad.One of Singhal's acquaintances in the real estate business confirmed that he was under financial stress.
“Nearly a week ago, I had met him and we discussed the slump in real estate sector and during that conversation, he had told me `kaise chalega' (how will we cope),“ said his friend on condition of anonymity .
According to the police, Singhal shot himself in the head with his licenced revolver while his wife and son were sleeping in the next room. “Sanjay Singhal, director of real estate firm, Charms India Pvt Ltd, who lived in Shastri Nagar with his wife and son, shot himself dead immediately after returning home from Indirapuram at around 12.15am on Monday ,“ said Neeraj Singh, SHO, Kavinagar police station.
“His wife and his son, woken up by the gunshot, rushed to his room. They found him lying in a pool of blood, after which he was rushed to Sarvodaya hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,“ said Singh. Charms India has a few up coming projects in Rajnagar extension. Currently , the society of 1,400 flats is occupied by 6070 families and it is learnt the company applied for completion certificate a fortnight ago.The company completed a project, Charms Solitaire in Indirapuram a few years back.
