GHAZIABAD: Ghaziabad police arrested a 26-year-old man and his two friends for allegedly murdering a 55-year-old woman in Tronica City on Thursday. The prime accused took his mother from her workplace on a bike and killed her after smashing a brick on her face.
According to police, the accused were identified as Sudhir Kumar alias Mohit, a resident of Mandola Village, and his two friends, Ankit Valmiki (24) and Sachin Tyagi (25), also residents of Mandola Village. All three were childhood friends and lived in the same locality.
On October 4, the body of Sangeet Tyagi was found just 300 metres away from her workplace in Mandola Village.
Sangeeta Tyagi, a resident of Mandola Village in Tronica City, is survived by her husband, Sunil Tyagi, and two sons, Manish and Mohit.
Sunil works in Hapur as a caretaker of a property, while Manish works as a security guard and lives in Delhi along with his wife and children. Mohit stayed with his mother in Mandola Village. Sangeeta worked in a thread manufacturing factory in the Tronica City industrial area.
Surendra Nath Tiwari, DCP of Rural, said that during questioning, the accused told police that he works as a DJ. He needed Rs 20,000 to replace two DJ speakers and also went to some worship at Kalka temple during Navratri, so he asked his mother for the money. When she refused and insulted him, saying he was useless and living off her earnings, and that she would transfer the property and house to the elder brother, he felt deeply humiliated and decided to kill his mother.
“On the night of October 2, he went to Kalka with locals for worship and returned the next morning. After waking up in the afternoon, he went to a liquor shop in Mandola Village where he met his friends Sachin Tyagi and Ankit, who were drinking. He drank with them and shared his troubles at home and his intention to kill his mother. His friends assured him of their support. Later, at 9 pm, he took Sachin's motorcycle to pick up his mother on the pretext of dropping her at home. But he took his mother near the gas agency where both of his friends were waiting. He asked them to finish her off. Sudhir and Ankit held her while Sachin hit her on the head multiple times with a brick, rendering her unconscious and resulting in her death,” he said.
Police have recovered the motorcycle and bricks used in the crime. All accused were booked under the section of 103 (punishment for murder) of BNS.
