After the septuagenarian was declared brain dead at a Max Super speciality Hospital in Vaishali, the family decided to donate her organs, after which surgeons successfully harvested the liver and kidneys.

The liver was transplanted into a 51-year-old man from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, while one kidney was transplanted into a 43-year-old woman from Surajmal Vihar, and another kidney was transported to PSRI Hospital through a green corridor.

The Indirapuram senior suffered from a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) that was caused by brain aneurysm; she battled for life for two days.

After rigorous efforts to save her life by the medical team at the hospital, she succumbed to her condition, said Dr Subhash Gupta, who led the transplant procedure.

"Seeing an opportunity to save lives, the medical team approached the patient's family-her two daughters-to discuss organ donation," doctor said.

Both transplant recipients are now stable and are being monitored in the transplant ICU, said the doctor.

"We are very happy that our mother touched so many lives by doing organ donation," said the donor's daughter.
