Video shared online, boy goes to cops with a sexual assault plaint

Ghaziabad: An 18-year-old youth filed a police complaint alleging that he was sexually assaulted by a man when he was returning home from work earlier this month. A case has been registered and one accused has been detained for questioning, police said.According to police, the incident occurred on the night of Aug 4, however, the teenager gathered up the courage to file a complaint after the accused began circulating a video of the attack on social media to defame him.The teenager told cops that a friend of his had offered to drop him home after work. However, the friend, who is one of the accused in the case, took him to a nearby parking area instead.There were five others present at the spot, including a long-haired youth who then assaulted him, the teenager alleged. The group also recorded a video of the act, he added.When the accused started circulating the video on a WhatsApp group, one of my friends told me about the video. People were writing bad things about me and my family. After that, I decided to take legal action,” he said.DCP (trans-Hindon) Nimish Patil said that a case has been registered against one identified accused and unknown persons under BNS Section 64 (punishment for rape) . The identified accused, the friend who brought the teenager to the spot, was detained for questioning and information about the others is being gathered, the DCP added.According to an officer, the accused told cops during questioning that they committed the crime to show off and defame the victim.
