GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation’s (
“The Balika Inter College in Makanpur has about 500 students and just three classrooms. So a proposal was put to GMC executive committee on Monday which unanimously passed the proposal in which about Rs 60 lakh was sought to add six more classrooms and other amenities,” said C P Singh, municipal commissioner. The executive committee also passed 32 out of 40 proposals worth Rs 20 crore which included installing of street lights along the one kilometre stretch in Sikandarpur village which connects proposed domestic terminal at Hindon air base.
“The GMC has been entrusted with the responsibility of installing street lights along the one kilometre stretch from Vasundhara Enclave in Sikandarpur village to Wazirabad T-point which leads to proposed domestic terminal at Hindon air base. A proposal of Rs 59 lakh was placed before the executive committee and it was passed,” said Singh.
The executive committee took note of the defunct LED lights in the municipal zones and passed a proposal under which the GMC will take up its maintenance job.
“About six months ago about 47, 000 LED lights were installed across the municipal zones by a private company but we have been receiving complaints that many of the lights are defunct and ideally the company should have replaced them, which was not done,” said Singh.
“To provide immediate relief to the residents, the executive committee passed a proposal under which GMC will immediately take up the maintenance job from its own fund,” he added. Of the other proposal passed, the GMC will undertake the anti-encroachment drive in its zones to free its drains of illegal ramps. “Residents have built ramps over drains which is inhibiting the flow of drains leading to water logging.,” Singh said.
