Residents of Gobichettipalayam and surrounding villages in Erode district spent the Monday afternoon at open grounds after they experienced a tremor. Villagers said they were alerted after vessels fell from kitchen shelves around 1pm. "I was watching TV. Suddenly, vessels kept in shelves started to fall ," said S Sujatha, a resident of Kasipalayam. It lasted for nearly five seconds, she told TOI.
