COIMBATORE: Police have found a man's skeleton on Friday in the hills near Dhimbam en route to Mysore in Erode district. After preliminary probe, police suspect the skeleton might be a driver from Namakkal who went missing a few days ago.
Earlier, the driver,
Suresh, along with three friends, Ravi, Surya and
Sathish, had set off for Chennai to work as truck drivers.
They had received Rs 10,000 from a borewell owner, Dhanasekar, before their journey. On their way, two of the four fell sick and all returned to Bommaikudaimedu in Namakkal district.
A few days later Suresh went missing. His parents reported him missing at Naamkiripettai police station near Namakkal. The police arrested Dhanasekar and questioned him. During the probe, he told the police that he killed Suresh and threw his body in the Dhimbam area.
Based on the statement, the police searched for the body and found the skeleton near 27th hairpin bend on the Dhimbam Ghat Road. They sent it for forensic analysis. “According to preliminary evidence, it is Suresh's skeleton. But we can ascertain that only after the test results,” police said. “If the test results prove that it was Suresh's skeleton, we will register a murder case,” police added.
Suresh was married to one Kumuda and had three children. Due to a misunderstanding the couple were separated and Kumuda, along with her two daughters, was living with her parents.
