ERODE: A couple from the Erode district who were on the run after attacking their son-in-law with sickle for marrying their daughter without consent were caught at Udumalpet on Wednesday. Their minor son was also arrested.
Balraj, 45, and his wife Thulasiammal, 40, along with 17-year-old son, attacked their son-in-law R Vignesh Karthik at Thiginarai hamlet in the Thalavadi taluk on Sunday.
Karthik, a daily wage worker, married Jyothi, 21, about six months ago. Karthik is presently being treated at a hospital in Samraj Nagar in Karnataka. His condition is said to be stable.
After attacking Karthik, Balraj, his wife and son escaped.
Police registered a case under section 307 of IPC and launched a search for the trio. Thalavadi police inspector Selvam received a tip that the trio were staying in a hideout at Udumalpet. “He and his team arrested them,” said V Sasimohan, the Erode district superintendent of police. tnn
