NEW DELHI: As thousands of curious Delhiites drove to the riverfront on Sunday to watch a raging Yamuna flow through its flood plains, the river receded slightly through the day. The water level, which was down to 206.09 metres by 5pm, will continue to remain above the danger mark for the next few days and even rise marginally on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the city woke up to a cloudy Sunday marked by an incessant drizzle and a few heavy showers, Till late evening, the Safdarjung station had recorded 26.8mm rain.

With this, the total rainfall in Delhi since the start of the monsoon season went up to 868mm ^ around 100mm more than the annual average for the city.
Meanwhile, the weather prediction spells bad news for Delhi government's Commonwealth Games preparations. The Met department says widespread rain and isolated heavy showers are likely for the next two to three days. "By the middle of the week, the intensity of rainfall will come down though the retreat of monsoon from the country is not likely to begin in at least another week or so," said Met officials.
About 60,000 cusec water was released at the Hathnikund barrage on Sunday morning which will impact Delhi by Tuesday.
