Women’s safety ABVP’s poll plank

NEW DELHI: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) launched its

manifesto

for the September 9 DUSU

elections

on Monday with three candidates and senior members laying down the agenda for the polls. The manifesto emphasised on women empowerment and has promised a safety app for students.

The three candidates outlined how ABVP was responsible in the rollback of FYUP and agitation against inflated rents paid by students.

“This year’s election shall be fought on issues affecting both the campus and the nation,” said Saket Bahaguna, ABVP national media convenor. The outfit hopes to remain in office for a third consecutive term.

The presidential candidate, Amit Tanwar, said ABVP would work towards safety of students. “We want the entry of outsiders regulated by the police. CCTV cameras should be set up at all important locations in the campus,” he added.

Priyanka Chhawarii, the vice-presidential candidate, spoke about the functioning of the ‘I Feel Safe — Safety Ka Power Button’ app that is expected to be launched soon.
