‘Wo speed mein tha’: Dwarka car accident aftermath video shows brother-sister duo shifting blame on biker
NEW DELHI: Fresh CCTV and mobile videos linked to the fatal Dwarka South car crash that killed 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra has surfaced, showing the accused teen and his sister arguing with bystanders moments after the collision.
In the visuals, sister is heard saying “wo speed mein tha,” apparently referring to the biker who died in the crash.
The video shows woman shielding her brother as a crowd gathers at the accident spot. She is also heard saying “vo saamne se aaya hai,” suggesting the motorcycle approached from the opposite direction.
The brother is seen speaking on his phone and wiping his face with a white towel while engaging in the exchange.
Another clip, timestamped 11.44am, shows the siblings walking away from the scene accompanied by a man in a white shirt.
The footage has added a new dimension to the investigation into the February 3 accident in Dwarka, where Sahil was killed after a Scorpio allegedly driven by a juvenile collided head-on with his motorcycle.
The SUV had narrowly avoided an oncoming bus seconds earlier before hitting the bike and then ramming into a stationary Swift Dzire. The injured taxi driver, Ajit Singh, was shifted to IGI Hospital.
Delhi Police confirmed that the Scorpio was allegedly being driven by a minor without a valid licence. The teen was apprehended at the scene, produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and sent to an Observation Home.
On February 10, the JJB granted interim bail citing his Class 10 board examinations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said the accused initially claimed he was 19, but document verification established that he was a minor.
The boy’s father has been bound down and faces proceedings under the Motor Vehicles Act for allegedly allowing underage driving.
Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has alleged reckless driving and claimed the occupants were speeding to record social media content. “This is not just an accident — this is criminal activity,” she said, demanding strict action. Friends and family described Sahil, a final-semester BBA student, as hardworking and focused, adding that he had been preparing for higher studies abroad.
The minor’s counsel, Lal Singh Thakur, urged restraint, saying the teenager and his family were under severe emotional stress and cooperating with investigators. Police said CCTV footage, mechanical inspections, and forensic analysis of videos are part of the ongoing probe.
