NEW DELHI: Ruling out the possibility of suicide or an accident, the

and friends of 19-year-old M Sidharth Singh have claimed that he might have been pushed off the terrace of the restaurant after an argument with someone.

Singh’s family said that he was a perfectly normal person and had recently enrolled at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) to study political science. Friends shared that he was the state topper in Class X and had scored 88% in his Class XII board exams. He had also represented India for a seminar in Japan and was planning to appear for the civil services examination after graduation.

The youth stayed with his elder sister, Ujwala, a student at Lady Shri Ram College, in C-Block of Safdarjung Development Area. His younger brother is still in school in Imphal. “It is impossible that he would commit suicide. Moreover, he had spoken to his father minutes before the incident. How could he suddenly fall or jump off without a reason,” said a family friend.

“Sidharth was going to leave DCAC and join Sri Venkateswara College,” said Prithviraj Singh, a former MLA from Manipur and a close friend of Singh’s father, M Okendro Singh.

“Despite being from a political background, Singh was focused on academics. He was interested in joining civil services. That’s why he took admission in political science. He used to wake up at 5am and used to take other children from the locality for jogging. He was extremely polite and a role model for kids,” Prithviraj added.

The principal secretary of Manipur, P Vaiphei, who has worked with Singh’s father for four years, said that initially everyone thought that the youth had met with a car accident. “It is difficult to believe that he fell from the building,” he said, adding that foul play cannot be ruled out.
