The monsoon reports from the municipal bodies recorded 12 cases of tree felling and complaints of waterlogging from 19 locations.

In east Delhi, most of the rain-related complaints were restricted to Shahdara north zone. “We witnessed one case of tree felling in Ram Nagar, while complaints of waterlogging were received from places like Yamuna Vihar, Sonia Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas and Gokalpuri,” a senior official said. Waterlogging was also observed in the zonal headquarters building of East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

South Delhi witnessed nine cases of tree felling and waterlogging was observed in a few places. “Tree felling complaints were received from Saket Court, Madangir, Hemkunt Colony and Mayapuri, among other places,” the report issued by South Delhi Municipal Corporation stated.

The north corporation recorded seven instances of tree felling and four complaints of waterlogging mostly from Karol Bagh and Rohini zones.

A PWD official said waterlogging was not reported widely. However, a few

vulnerable spots

like Rohtak Road, Minto Bridge, Pul Prahladpur and Najafgarh Road did witness the issue, the official added.

Even though water meters installed at Minto Bridge were successful twice after heavy rain was recorded earlier, this time around, the bridge area wasn’t as clear and the traffic had to be diverted. There was waterlogging at a few spots around ITO as well, but the water suction pumps installed nearby pumped out all the water immediately.
