Virtual tribute to Kargil heroes on Kargil Vijay Diwas
For the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, a Delhi-based mall has planned a three-day-long virtual campaign in memory of the heroes of the Kargil War. As part of its 'Let's Not Forget' social media campaign,
Commenting upon the campaign, Nimish Arora, Director and CEO, Select Citywalk, says, "Our aim through the campaign is to join the nation in paying tribute to our valiant soldiers and to commemorate their great sacrifice in the best way possible. Kargil Vijay Diwas at Select Citywalk has received tremendous participation and appreciation in the past few years and this year, we have designed a digital campaign for their participation."
This is the eighth year when Select Citywalk is commemorating the Kargil Vijay Diwas. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations, there will be no celebrations at the mall premises, unlike previous years. Earlier editions of the mall's celebrations for the day have included musical tributes, film screenings and felicitations of Kargil veterans.
Select Citywalk
will pay homage to the bravehearts of the Kargil War through excerpts from the letters of these exceptional men to their families. The campaign, which will run from July 24-26, will also feature a crowd-sourced video paying tribute to the soldiers who fought in the war. The organisers have also planned a contest, the winner of which wins an autographed copy of the biography ofCaptain Vijayant Thapar
, Vir Chakra, one of the conflict's most celebrated heroes. The biography has been penned by his father Col.
