NEW DELHI: The National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress, on Friday appointed Vinod Jakhar as its new national president.The announcement was made through a press release issued by party general secretary KC Venugopal.

“Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Shri Vinod Jakhar as the president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), with immediate effect,” the statement said.Jakhar hails from Merta town in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district and has been associated with the organisation for several years. The party also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing president, Varun Choudhary, thanking him for his role in leading the student body.
Soon after the announcement, NSUI welcomed Jakhar’s elevation in a post on its official handle, expressing optimism about a renewed phase for the student organisation.“With renewed energy, commitment to constitutional values, and unwavering dedication to student rights, a new chapter begins in our collective journey,” the post read.
