Hold camp to fill home guard posts: LG
New Delhi: Lieutenant governor VK Saxena issued directions to the directorate general of home guards to complete the recruitment process of eligible candidates for 2,346 posts of home guards, who qualified in the written and physical tests.
Raj Niwas officials said LG directed that a dedicated camp be set up within one week for the medical test of the candidates and appointment letters be issued to the eligible ones. LG approved the enrolment of 10,285 home guards in Jan this year, with one-third of the posts reserved for women applicants. An advertisement was issued for filling up the vacancies, in response to which over one lakh applications were submitted. A total of 32,551 applicants later qualified in the physical measurement and efficiency test.
However, vacancies totalling 7,939 were stuck due to two pending court cases. LG directed the DG home guards to ensure that these vacancies were also filled at the earliest after taking cognisance of the court decisions in related matters. "The 2,346 applicants who qualified in the test will not have to unduly wait for the court order to be pronounced," said an official. TNN
