UP Police constable arrested for sexual assault

New Delhi: A UP Police constable was arrested on Sunday for alleged sexual assault of a woman for years in Shahdara's Jyoti Nagar. DCP, Northeast, Joy Tirkey said that the 38-year-old woman had alleged that she was sexually assaulted from Aug 2021 till 22 July 2024. The accused, with Uttar Pradesh Task Force, used to stay on rent at the complainant's maternal home, police said. The woman alleged that she was blackmailed and threatened by the accused multiple times throughout the years. A case was registered under sections 64 (punishment for rape), 88 (causing miscarriage), 123 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), 316 (criminal breach of trust), and 351 (criminal intimidation) of BNS.
