NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police constable was allegedly kept
captive
in his
car
by two unidentified people, driven around for over two hours and then thrown out before the criminals fled with the vehicle. The incident took place on Saturday near a police post in outer Delhi’s Alipur when the policeman was returning home after duty.
The constable, Pradeep Kumar (35), is posted at
northwest Delhi
’s Swaroop Nagar police station for the last two years.
On Saturday evening, when the
cop
had stopped in a market to buy sweets for guests at home, he noticed two people running towards the car parked in a dimly-lit lane. Suspecting something amiss, he rushed towards the vehicle.
“The two men were standing next to the car. When I started getting inside, they pulled me out, opened the back door and pushed me in. They overpowered me, took away my pistol and put a tape over my mouth,” Kumar said.
One of the men then started driving the car, while the other one started hitting Kumar. “When I retaliated, the man pointed a gun at me and threatened to kill me. They drove for over 55km towards Faridabad before dumping me at an isolated spot,” the constable added.
After walking for nearly 5km, Kumar reached a village from where he made calls to the PCR and his family members.

footage of the area to ascertain the sequence of events,” said a senior police officer.
