NEW DELHI: Two persons wanted in various cases of murders in the city were arrested by the special cell on Tuesday.
The police had been searching for Danish for over last six months. However, he went underground and was not using any mobile phone.
DCP Sanjeev Yadav said his teams got an input about Danish coming to the GB Road area on March 24. “We got another tip-off that Danish’s aide Deepak would be coming to Dilshad Garden Metro Station parking area.
Two separate teams laid traps and Danish was spotted riding a black bike. When police tried to stop him, he whipped out his pistol and tried to fire on the team but we overpowered him,” Yadav said.
Meanwhile, the second team spotted Deepak coming in a white TVS Apache from Ghaziabad side. He too was overpowered and arrested.
In September last year, the accused, Danish Jamal and Deepak Sirohi, along with their aide Ible Hassan and others, had executed a contract killing. They had killed a south Delhi-based businessman Farrukh as planned by his business rival.
Police said Danish was also wanted in the murder case of one Aqil, a builder, who was killed in northeast Delhi in 2013. His nephew was shot months later. While Aqil was shot 18 times, his nephew was murdered in the second attempt in presence of his personal security officer who was disabled with a pepper spray.
Danish was also involved in the murder and robbery at a petrol pump in east Delhi and two robberies of Rs 50 lakh each in 2009.
The duo is a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
