NEW DELHI: Two Bangladeshi men have alleged that they were sexually assaulted by five men in a park in east Delhi's Shakarpur on Tuesday.
Police have arrested three men. During investigation, they found out that the two men, living together at a flat in Shakarpur with a third roommate, had gone to a Ramlila event on October 17. All three roommates identified as LGBTQ.
While returning to their residence around 11.30 pm, one of them met a man he had befriended on a gay dating app a few days ago.
Two people were with the dating app acquaintance. "He asked him (the Bangladeshi national whom he had befriended on the app) for a sexual tryst but the Bangladesh youth declined. He told him that the other Bangladeshi was gay too and would be ready for it," a police source said.
The three Indians and two Bangladeshi youth went to the park. Two of the men went to an isolated spot. Meanwhile, two more friends of the Indian dating app acquaintance came to the park and asked both Bangladeshis for sex. When both declined, they were thrashed by the five men and sexually assaulted, the said.
They came to their apartment and informed their third roommate. They made a PCR call at 1 am.
Achin Garg, additional DCP (east), said that after analysing footage in over 50 CCTV cameras, three men - Devashish Verma (20), Surjeet (21), and Aryan (20) - were arrested.
