NEW DELHI: Police teams probing the triple murder of an elderly couple and their medical attendant in Vasant Vihar reconstructed the sequence of events inside the flat on Monday. Police teams also went to Noida and Laxmi Nagar to look for the suspects.
Two men have been partially seen in CCTV footage and are suspected to be the perpetrators. A source said they were seen moving towards flat number 234 where Vishnu Mathur and his wife Shashi Mathur lived.
The two suspects were seen exiting the society at 2.30am.
Other residents of the society were questioned, but they all said they had no guests at that hour, suggesting that the duo went to the Mathurs’ flat.
Police also found two cups of tea placed on the table where 20-year-old Khushbu Nautiyal was found murdered.
That apart, police also found bidi butts on the floor and Vishnu Mathur’s wallet. The items were sent for forensic examination.
Another police team has found that the cellphone of Nautiyal was turned off at 1.28am, and those of the Mathur couple were switched off at 1.40am.
Police are also investigating the possibility of involvement of an acquaintance of Nautiyal whom she had met through social media last August. The man has been detained for questioning as his call records showed that he was in constant touch with Nautiyal but turned off his cellphone on Saturday night at 8pm.
Nautiyal had done a nursing course from Dehradun and had been hired as the medical attendant for Shashi Mathur through a placement agency. But she left the agency three months ago due to financial disputes. Police are questioning the agency owners.
The bodies of the victims were handed over to their families following an autopsy.
