Toddler falls to death from East Delhi apartment

NEW DELHI: In a tragic incident, a one-and-a-half year old girl, playing hide and seek with her mother, slipped through the 4th floor staircase railings in an apartment building and fell to her death.
The deceased, identified as Alima, lived with her family in Prince Apartment in the Mandawali area of East Delhi. The incident took place around 2pm on Monday and the injured child, was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead.
“Alima’s mother, Mantasha, kept telling her to sit still and was keeping an eye on her but suddenly Alima went towards the stairs. First she hid behind the flower pot next to the railing but her head slipped between the gap in the railings and she lost her balance. Her mother ran to save her but all she could catch hold of were her sandals,” Alima’s aunt said.
Alima's father, Aman Ali works for a travel agency and was not at home at the time of the incident.
